Wepresentanddiscusstheresultsof1.6GHzand5GHztestpolarizationobservationsobtainedwithHALCA,theVLBA,andphasedVLA,specificallytoevaluatethefeasibilityofcalibratingandimagingHALCApolarizationdata.Ouranalysisprovidedthefirstdemonstrationthatcentimeter-wavelengthpolarizationimagingusingHALCAistechnicallyviableforsourceswithsufficientlyhighcorrelatedpolarizedfluxdensities,despiteanumberoffactorswhichconspiretocomplicatethecalibration,includingrelativelylowsensitivity,inabilitytoobservecalibrators,lackofvaryingparallacticangle,andabsenceofredundantmeasurementsonspacebaselines.Thetestdatadescribedherearelimitedandcannotruleoutinstrumentalvariability,butindicatethattheHALCAinstrumentalpolarizationleakageis∼2−5%at1.6GHzand∼9−11%at5GHz.TheprospectsforeffectivepolarizationcalibrationonfutureorbitingVLBImissionsareencouraging,especiallysinceimprovementsinsensitivityareexpected.
