【 摘 要 】

Inordertoexaminetheline-blanketingeffectduetogaseouscloudsathighredshifts,wehavecalculatedtheionizationstatesofgascloudsofsubgalacticmassscaleexposedtoaUVradiationfieldthatcanreproducetheionizationstatesoftheLymanlimitsystems(LLSs)alongthelineofsighttoquasarHS1700+6416.WealsoadoptedtheintegratedUVradiationfromtheobservedquasarsmodifiedbytheinterveningabsorptionduetotheLymanαforestandLLSsasanionizingspectrum.OurphotoionizationmodelscanexplaintheobservedHIcolumn-densitydistribution,theobservedCIV/HIratioandtheobservedopticaldepthsofHIandHeII.WeconcludethattheintegratedUVbackgroundmodelscanwellexplaintheionizationstatesofboththeIGMandLymanαcloudsatz∼2–3.ThegaseousmassoftheLymanαcloudsfollowsapower-lawformasdn/dMc∼Mc-δwithδ∼2–2.5inthe108–1011M⊙range.ThemajorityofthedarkbaryonprobablyconsistsoftheIGM.
