Thermalinstabilityisexaminedforadvection-dominatedone-temperatureaccretiondisks.Weconsideraxisymmetricperturbationswithshortwavelengthintheradialdirection.Theviscosityisassumedtobesufficientlysmallfortheverticalhydrostaticbalancetoholdinperturbedstates.Thetypeofviscosityisgiveneitherbytheα-viscosityorbyadiffusion-typestresstensor.Opticallythickdisksarefoundtobeingeneralmoreunstablethanopticallythinones.Whenthermaldiffusionispresent,opticallythindisksbecomestable,butopticallythickdisksarestillunstable.Theinstabilityoftheadvection-dominateddisksisdifferentfromthatofthegeometricallythindiskswithoutadvection.Inthecaseofnoadvection,thethermalmodebehavesundernoappreciablesurfacedensitychange.Inthecaseofadvection-dominateddisks,however,thethermalmodeoccurswithnoappreciablepressurechange(comparedwiththedensitychange),whenlocalperturbationsareconsidered.Thevariationsofangularmomentumandofthesurfacedensityassociatedwiththeperturbationsleadtoathermalinstability.Theastrophysicalimplicationsofthisinstabilityarebrieflydiscussed.
