【 摘 要 】

Theneuralretinaisacomplexsensorystructuredesignedtoreceive,integrate,andtransmitvisualinformation.Animportantaspectofretinaldevelopmentistheestablishmentofpatternalongthedorsal–ventral(D-V)andanterior–posterior(A-P)axes.Therecentidentificationandfunctionalcharacterizationofadorsal-specificandaventral-specifictranscriptionfactorsuggestedthattheD-Vaxisisdividedintotwodomains.ThisstudycharacterizestheexpressionpatternsoftheseandotherD-Vmarkers,andestablishesthattheretinaissubdividedintoatleastfourdomainsofgeneexpressionalongthisaxis.ThecompositionandspatialrelationoftheseexpressiondomainsaltersourmodelofD-Vpatterning,suggestingmorecomplexityinthewaythattheretinaispatternedthanwaspreviouslyrecognized.Asdomainsofgeneexpressionwithindevelopingtissuessometimescomprisecompartmentswhosebordersarenotcrossedbyclonallyrelatedcells,weperformedaretrovirallineagestudy.Astrongpreferenceforcellstoremainintheiroriginaldomainofgeneexpressionwasobserved,suggestingthattheseborderscomprisedevelopmentalcompartments.
