In2006,awidespreadfireintheBookmarkBiosphereReserve,SouthAustralia,consumedoverone-thirdoftheoldgrowthmalleeconsideredtobetheprimehabitatoftheendangeredBlack-earedMinerManorinamelanotis.Since2008,thespecieshasbeenobservedforagingandbreedinginthefire-alteredarea.ToverifywhetherfoodresourcescanexplaintheBlack-earedMiners'presenceinhabitatconsistingofearlyseralstages,weexaminedifalinkcouldbefoundbetweentheforagingbehaviouroftheBlack-earedMineranditsinvertebratefoodresources.
