Contrarytoexpectations,amanyfoldincreaseinhuman-providedcarcasseswasparalleledbyanear-totalfailureofbreedingsuccessinasmallRavenCorvuscoraxpopulationinthecentralNetherlands.Shotgameandroadcasualtieshadbeendepositedattwotothreepointsources,wherethebonanzawasquicklymonopolizedbyflocksofnon-breedingRavens.Breedingsuccessimprovedsubstantiallyassoonascarcassesweredispersedthroughouttheterrain,enablingterritorialpairstoprofitfromnutritiousfoodwithoutbeingoutcompetedbynon-breedingRavens.
