【 摘 要 】

WeusedGPSsatellitetrackingdataandfieldmeasurementsofvegetationtoinvestigatetheeffectoffoodresources,distancetoroosts,andthelocationofrefugesonthedistributionofBarnacleGeeseBrantaleucopsisinthenorthernpartofTheNetherlands.Todealwithspatialdependenceamongthedata,aspatiallagmodelwasused.Asignificantquadraticeffectwasfoundbetweenswardheightandgoosedistribution,indicatingthatgeesepreferpatcheswithintermediateswardheights.Themanipulationofswardheightcanthereforebeusedtoattractgeesetorefugesandthusreducegoosegrazinginagriculturalland.Norelationshipwasfoundbetweengrassnitrogencontentandgrazingintensity,indicatingthatgeesedonotdistinguishbetweenareasbasedonnitrogencontent.Ahighergrazingintensitywasobservedinareaslocatedwithin2kmfromroosts.Theeighttrackedgeesespent80%oftheirforagingtimeinrefuges,demonstratingtheimportanceoftherefugesystem.
