【 摘 要 】

Nestinginthesamebreedingareainsuccessiveyearsprovidesinformationtohelpunderstandthecuesusedbybirdsinhabitatselection.Moreover,suchinformationmayalsobeanimportanttoolfortheconservationandmanagementofendangeredspecies.Basedontheringingresultsof122adultand1245nestlingRed-backedShrikeLaniuscolluriointheyears1996–2005,westudiedphilopatryofthespeciesintwodifferentpopulations:inwesternandineasternPoland.MoreoverweanalysedallPolishRed-backedShrikeringrecoveriessince1996(n=3102ringedbirds).Wenotedthatbothnatalandbreedingphilopatryinthepopulationswerealmostentirelyabsent.Thisissurprisingincomparisonwithotherstudies,especiallythoseincludingshrikes.Comparisonswithotherpopulationssuggestthatthelackofphilopatryisnotrelatedtothebreedingsuccessoflocalbirdsand/orthesizeofthestudyarea.Incontrast,wesuggestthatlowphilopatryisaneffectofand/oranadaptationtoarelativelyhighpopulationdensityattheland-scapescale,wheremanybreedingareasandpotentialnestingsitesstillremainvacant.
