【 摘 要 】

Hazards related to pyroclastic density current continueto raise victims on many volcanoes in our planet. The Cameroon is not spared tothis type of hazard because depositsof pyroclastic flows and surges are found onMount Bamenda; productsof this volcano are relatively young (27-0Ma). Besides MountBamenda, Mounts Bambouto and Oku are the onlyvolcanoes located in the central part of the Cameroon Volcanic Line wherethese ignimbritic deposits are found. Several factors highlightdangerousness and damage that can causeignimbritic flows on the flanks of this volcano. This is essentially the high aspect ratio of theseignimbrites, the important population(about 750,000 people) that lives on theslopes and around the volcano. Inorder to have an idea of a nowadays ignimbritic eruption scenario onBamenda volcano, the Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility (ASM) method is usedin this study to highlight the palaeoflow in ancient deposits of ignimbriteswhich are mostly discontinuous and isotropic. Results of AMS study are used toproduce map of hazards and assess risks that may be related with such eruptionsin Bamenda volcano.
