【 摘 要 】

It is shown that the group of compactlysupported, measure-preserving homeomorphisms of aconnected, second countable manifold is locally contractible in the direct limit topology.Furthermore, this group is weakly homotopically equivalent to the more general group ofcompactly supported homeomorphisms.
