On the Exponent of the ${k}_0$-Groups of Virtually Infinite Cyclic Groups

【 摘 要 】

It is known that the $K$-theory of a large class of groups can becomputed from the $K$-theory of their virtually infinite cyclicsubgroups. On the other hand, Nil-groups appear to be the obstacle incalculations involving the $K$-theory of the latter. The maindifficulty in the calculation of Nil-groups is that they areinfinitely generated when they do not vanish. We develop methods forcomputing the exponent of ${k}_0$-groups that appear in thecalculation of the $K_0$-groups of virtually infinite cyclic groups.
