【 摘 要 】
A Mobile Application Framework is a framework that provides a tool for evaluating candidate mobile applications and outlines the considerations for developing and deploying mobile applications. In this study, a standard-based mobile application framework for University of Baguio was designed by a) identifying the mobile development and deployment considerations, b) selecting the best open source hybrid mobile framework for higher education institutions, and c) analyzing the current information system of the university against the selected open source mobile framework. The mobile application framework is composed of 7 components, namely: candidate mobile application, candidate mobile application evaluation, mobile application development and deployment, data sources, mobile platforms, deployed mobile application and governance. The framework initially evaluates the candidate application for mobile development through a decision matrix. The matrix aims to determine the appropriate development and deployment platform for the candidate application. After the platform is determined, appropriate modules from the Jasig uMobile mobile framework will be used for developing and deploying the mobile application. Data needed by the applications can come from either the databases of the university or feeds from external websites. The developed application can then be tested for Android or iOS platforms before it is deployed. All the data involved in using the framework is defined, stored and regulated through the governance component. The governance component will also monitor deployed mobile applications through feedbacks from mobile users. The framework initially focused its user profile on the students of the university as they make up a big part of its mobile users. This is to enable the university to establish a mobile community before focusing on other users. It is also recommended that the user needs of staff and other users be surveyed in the future.
