【 摘 要 】
Poisson Distribution is a discrete distribution of random occurrences like arrival of vehicles in a certain approach. There are two main intersections being studied in this study: CM Recto – Velez – JPacana (Intersection 1) and CM Recto – Pelaez Blvd – Kauswagan (Intersection 2). Optimum Cycle Time differs from one intersection to other due to the traffic flow capacity of each lane approach. A Stochastic modeling is presented to assess the traffic condition of Cagayan de Oro City. MatLab was utilized in simulation for n = 50 and n = 100 where n denotes the Poisson random numbers generated based on the average vehicle count per hour in each approach of the intersection. Other parameters are kept constant like yellow and red time for both intersections which were set to 2 seconds and 1 second respectively to compensate deceleration rate and reaction time of drivers. In this paper, three settings of vehicle count took place: Peak day (Tuesday) – December 19, 2006, Slack day (Sunday) – September 10, 2006 and Holiday (Tuesday) – October 24, 2006. Vehicle volume count started from 6am to 6pm with a 15 minute interval. It has been found out that the optimum cycle time of Intersection 1 during peak days where n = 50 and n = 100 is in the range of 200 – 350 seconds while for intersection 2, optimum cycle time for peak days ranges from 100 – 130 seconds.
