The purpose of this short text, serving as an introduction to the list of seminars from 1990 to 2013, is to recall the circumstances of the creation of the seminar "History of probability and statistics" in 1982, and its operation for 30 years, both as regards its intellectual environment and the role that assumed Marc Barbut.
