The present paper begs the reader’s indulgence, for in this study I am going to throw caution to the wind and express a personal conviction. I shall draw comparisons between Nabaṭī poetry and Greek literature, I shall also give examples from ancient Near Eastern cultures, and I am going to deliberately tip the balance ever so slightly in favor of Nabaṭī poetry.
