【 摘 要 】
Aim: To present results and efficiency of ultrasound hip examination according to Graf technique of newborns and infants in our community with a purpose of early detection of hip dysplasia.
Subjects and methods: Ultrasound hip examination was performed on 2528 newborns and infants at the Department of Children's Diseases, Virovitica General Hospital in the period between March 2000 and June 2002, and October 2005 and April 2006. In the same period we examined 1822 (78,2%) newborns and infants of a total of 2331 liveborn children at the Maternity ward. Based on the results they were classified in one of ten types according to Graf and then diagnosed.
Results: In 1720 (94,62%) children ultrasound results were negative and in 98 (5,38%) developmental displacement of the hip was detected. Patological ultrasound results were found in 73 (74,5%) female and 25 (25,5%) male infants. There were 52 (53,1%) findings from weeks 0-6, 34 (34,7%) from 7 weeks-3 months and 12 (12,2%) findings from 3-7 months. According to Graf classification there were 41 (20,9%) cases of type II-a hips, 9 (4,6%) type II-b, types II-g 1 (0,5%), II-d 10 (5,1%), III-a 25 (12,8%) and III-b 0 (0,0%), and one type IV (1,0%). Among children with developmental displacement of the hip disorder there is a high prevalence of hip dysplasia 79 (80,5%) compared to 18 (18,5%) subluxations and 1 (1,0 %) luxation.
Conclusion: Our results based on non-selective ultrasound examination of newborns and infants indicate the efficiency of this method in early diagnosis of developmental displacement of the hip.
