【 摘 要 】
Product development of die cast parts can be realized flexible, economically and fast by using RP-samples and metal casts from ceramic shells. This process works particularly well for complex parts and enables product testing with improved significance of the results at reduced development costs. In contrast to sand casting, there is no need to change the design of the parts. A specific heat treatment allows to compare the mechanical properties of the prototypes to these of the final series products. Toolless manufacturing enables flexible and easy changes. For inaccessible cavities and undercuts ceramic cores can be used in this process as in-lays. These ceramic cores can also be produced in a toolless process. Waiving the technically most useful solution due to costs reasons is not necessary anymore. The process reveals new design opportunities, helping to achieve new goals in light-weight design, reduction of joining technique or higher material efficiency. Parts made by this process fulfill highest quality standards and satisfy upmost technical requirements. The number of prototypes used for testing can be minimized. The more complex the geometry of a part is, the more apparent the named positive effects become. This statement covers product development and small-batch production, which is too expensive and complex, when manufactured in a conventional die cast or forging process.
