【 摘 要 】

The Editorial Board of the Revista Brasileira de Herbicidas - RBH has the honor to present the first issue of the year 2016. The work consists of twelve review papers with relevant topics that impact on chemical weed control. The authors are renowned Brazilian researchers, working in various institutions of teaching and research.The year 2016 has special significance for RBH, since it is the consolidation as one of the main sources of information on the Integrated Management of Weed, with emphasis on chemical control. A major reform was proposed by the new team of editors, significantly changed since the submission system to paper display in the final version. The result can already be found by reducing the time between submission and publication of accepted articles.This special edition is also celebrating a unique moment for the Brazilian Weed Science Society – SBCPD, since celebrates the 30th edition of the Brazilian Congress of Science of Weed, confirmed for the city of Curitiba, from 22 to 26 of August of 2016. The event expects to gather more than 1000 congressees, including undergraduate and graduate students, technicians, growers, professors, researchers among others from Brazil and several other countries.Following the impressive success of the 29th Congress in Gramado (RS), Curitiba is believed to be an excellent setting to discuss the current progress of weed science, the development of novel herbicides based upon new concepts, and the advances in weed resistance to herbicides that will change our approach in crop management in the forthcoming years.Today, it is easy to envision a future where weed science will be based on a deeper understanding of fundamental concepts of weed biology, application technology, environmental fate of herbicides, new traits, and the challenge of weed resistance to herbicides. Weed scientists are now well positioned to take advantage of the major advances achieved in the last few years in herbicide physiology and crop biotechnology. The upcoming 30th CBCPD will be a unique opportunity to listen to worldwide opinion leaders who will share with us the recent innovations in their respective fields.Young scientists and students are especially encouraged to present their recent findings through the poster session. A good number of activities are under preparation to attend the next generation of Brazilian weed scientists. In addition, a major effort is underway to bring a significant number of consultants and extensionists, what will bring a refreshing new approach to research and academia fellows.We are looking forward welcoming you in Curitiba, one of the most charming cities in Brazil.
