【 摘 要 】

The Jarama irrigation channel, which flows between Vaciamadrid and Mocejón, nowadays fertilises about 12,500 hectares. Until recently, it was considered to have been built by the end of the 16th century, thanks to the drive of King Philip II and his architects. This paper shows, that even though it is true that the idea of building the channel arose during his reign, the construction began a century later. This paper also studies the surveys carried out before the work started.
