Effect of NaCl concentrations on the micelial growth of Pochonia chlamydosporia (Goddard) Zare and Gams in PDA medium and soil

【 摘 要 】
The salts present in water and soil dedicated to agriculture may confer unfavorable effects on microbial agents of pests control present in the agroecosystem. For this reason, it was proposed to determine the effects of NaCl concentration on the mycelial growth and sporulation of Pochonia chlamydosporia in PDA medium and soil. Two separate tests were performed, the treatments consisted in four NaCl concentrations (40, 80, 120 and 160 mmol.L-1) and one control. The inhibition of the mycelial growth and sporulation was determined; this was analyzed using univariate ANOVA and compared by Duncan's test. In the first assays, the lower inhibition of the colony area (6.55%) and sporulation (21.57%) was obtained at a concentration of 40 mmol.L-1 of NaCl, and the greatest affectation was recorded at 160 mmol.L-1 with values of 51.35% and 85.17%, respectively. In the second assays, the lowest inhibition of the colony area (11.59%) was achieved at a concentration of 40 mmol.L-1, and the greatest affectation (33.50%) was found at 160 mmol.L-1. The fungus produced chlamydospores in the Fluvisol soil at all the concentrations of NaCl used. The results showed the potential of P. chlamydosporia to persist and proliferate under the effect of high concentrations of NaCl on PDA medium and the soil tested. This fungus has been indicated as a promissory candidate for biomanagement of Meloidogyne spp., in agroecosystems with salinity problems.
