【 摘 要 】

Stereotype is sort of current perception which a society  adopts automatically and thoughtlessly. There is a special type of stereotypes that deals with inadequate opinions of different professions. The article analyses a negative image of librarians, additionally strengthened by literature and films.  It presents initiatives realized to change a stereotypical image of a contemporary librarian.
