【 摘 要 】

Despite to be based on a radically different culture habits of the Brazilian, the 5S Method became very popular from the 90’s in our country. Many had been the organizations that had adopted it as a strategy to increase their efficiency. However, the 5S Method, when applied to the archive institutions it must be understood of broadly way, in other words it must be reformulated. This article points out some of the issues in which the 5S Method is defective for this type of organizations, or departments which has any archive’s responsibilities. We present also a story of a case experienced by one of the authors where the observance in the extension of the method was not taken in account e its unfortunate consequences.
