【 摘 要 】

The accomplishment of several thematic mappings, as the map of land use (Ross, 1995) and the map of legal restrictions to the land use and occupation (Oliveira, 1997), is important for studies related to the environmental subject. Therefore, this article aims to present the techniques for the construction of a cartographic document that spatialize the legal restrictions to the land use, as well as to evaluate if the current use of Cavalheiro Stream basin land (Analândia/SP) matches with the restrictions put by the effective environmental legislation. It was possible to verify that the legal devices which impose restrictions to the land use and occupation in Cavalheiro Stream basin, in a general way, are infringed by the current land use practiced in this basin, except for some passages that are consistent to the permanent preservation areas (PPAs) along courses of water with less than ten meters of width, located in the center-south and east sections that are covered by the forest according to the distance designated in the referred legal parameter.
