【 摘 要 】

This work has as its main objective the identification of identity landscapes in Mexico. Based on a revision of the landscape concept in geography, we will study how identity landscapes were formed in different countries and how they were incorporated in representations of a national identity. For example XIX century Valley of Mexico representations were used in Mexico as an identity landscape. Although, the Independence founded the Mexican nation, landscapes associated with this event continue to be undervalued. Through field observation and archival revision, we will study the historical, aesthetic, and environmental characteristics of two landscapes associated with the Independence in western Mexico. The two landscapes are: el Fuerte de Sombrero and el Puente de Calderón. If acquiring identity landscape status seems difficult in both cases, the analysis of these landscapes results in a better understanding of their history.
