【 摘 要 】
The present study was undertaken to determine germination of corns seeds treated with different manganese and cooper doses. The experiments were conducted at the Department of Fitotecnia of the University of Santa Maria, RS, at 1989. The experiment was a completely randomized design, with four replications and with 50 seeds each. Seedlings evaluation was conducted six days after the seeds had been placed in moistured paper roll. In the first experiment, Cargill and Braskalb hybrids were used and treated with manganese doses (1.25; 2.50 and 5.00g/kg of seeds), copper doses (1.25; 2.50 and 5,00g/kg of seeds), manganese + copper doses (2.50g Mn + 2.50g Cu/kg of seeds) and a check treatment without manganese and copper. In the second experiment, the hybrid was a Pioneer, treated with manganese doses (1.00 and 2.00g/kg of seeds), copper doses (0.25; 0.50 and 1.00g/kg of seeds), manganese + copper doses (2.00g Mn + 0.25g Cu/kg of seeds; 2.00g Mn + 0.50g Cu/kg of seeds) and a check treatment without manganese and copper. The results indicated that manganese dose down to 2.50g/kg of seeds, did not affect the germination. Whereas, application of copper caused toxicity, reduced germination regardless the doses used. The com hybrids presented the same tolerance to manganese but were highly susceptible to copper treatment on the seeds.
