【 摘 要 】
Astraditionalantibioticsgraduallybecomeinefficient,thereisahighdemandfordevelopmentofanti‐infectiveswithamechanismofactionthatisdifferentfromexistingantibiotics.Currentantibioticstargetthepathogendirectly,therebycontributingtotheselectionofmultidrug‐resistantbacterialstrains.AMPs,suchasthehumancathelicidinLL‐37,aresmallcationicpeptidesthatarepartofhostdefense.Theyeliminatemicrobesthroughdiversemechanisms,therebycontributingtoresolutionofinfectionsandmaintenanceofepithelialbarrierfunction.Themultiplicityofthesemechanismsofactionmightbeakeytorestrictthedevelopmentofresistantbacterialstrains.ThediscoveryofLL‐37‐inducingcomponents,suchasbutyrateandvitaminD3,hasopenednewavenuestopreventortreatinfections.ButyrateandvitaminD3arepotentinducersofLL‐37butinaddition,havemanyothereffectsonhostimmunity.Here,wesummarizecurrentdataontheeffectsthatLL‐37anditsinducersdisplayontheinnateimmuneresponseanddiscussthefeasibilityfordevelopmentoftheseinducersaspossibledrugstopreventortreatinfections...
