【 摘 要 】
Purpose . To investigate in an experimental and morphological ex vivo research a tissue reaction of human cadaver donor cornea to the implantation of intra-corneal lenses (ICL) Material and methods . Intra-corneal lenses (ICLs) of two different materials hydroxyl ethyl meth-acrylate (HEMA) or oligo-urethane methacrylate (OUMA) were implanted inside the cadaver donor corneas, one ICL per cornea. The latter had been cultured during 3 months with a subsequent evaluation of tissue reaction by the methods of the fluorescent light and the scanning electron microscopy, according to a degree of covering the surfaces with cellular elements. how extensive the covering of the surfaces with cells w as. Results.It was revealed that the presence of the designed ICLs within the corneal stroma did not cause the formation of rough fibrous connective tissue in the course of study. There were detected fibroblastlike cells on the surfaces of the implants. In addition, fibrous membranes in the form of «gentle» or «dense» meshwork were visualized on the ICL surfaces, depending on their material – HEMA or OUMA, respectively. The process of organ culture showed a statistically significant impact on the stromal cellular reaction in response to experimental injury (p=0.029). cellular reaction (p=0.029). However, neither the presence of ICL itself inside the cornea, nor the chemical properties of implants had any statistically significant influence on tissue reaction (p=1.0). Conclusion . The obtained results allow us to conclude that the presence of tested ICLs made of two materials in the corneal stroma caused the tissue and cellular reaction of approximately the same extent as a response on the identical surgical procedure but without lens implantation. The ICLs which have been tested can thus be recommended for further in vivo investigations because they turned to be quite biologically compatible.
