【 摘 要 】

Purpose . The analysis of the incidence of secondary cataract YAG laser discission after phacoemulsification with IOL implantation and the determination of the occurrence probability of the optically significant posterior capsule opacities. Material and methods.A retrospective examination of 7646 cases of PECS with IOL implantation was performed in patients aged 40-95 years old using the mathematical method «event history analysis». The follow-up period was 7.5 years, when a secondary surgery was performed in 826 (10.8%) cases. Results . In the follow-up period more than seven years after cataract phacoemulsification with intracapsular IOL implantation the need for YAG laser discission occurred in 10.8% of cases. Herewith during 2-3 years after the operation the risk of DPC need was increased rapidly and decreased gradually to the zero values within the next 4 years. It was proved that the need for DPC in patients undergone the PEC with IOL implantation aged 40-60 years occurred in 17.7% of cases, and this significantly exceeded the index for the age 61-75 years (10%) and 76 years and older (8.3%). Conclusion . To analyze reliably the risk of the optically significant secondary cataract development the follow-up period after pacoemulsification with IOL implantation should be not less then 5.5 years. Knowing the minimum follow-up terms it is advisable to continue the examinations and analysis with regard to the IOL material and shape.
