【 摘 要 】

Foundation:Mechanical ventilation at home is beneficial for patients with diseases that cause respiratory failure, it allows the reduction of hospitalizations and improves their quality of life. Objective:To design a new educative strategy which integrates different caring levels towards child caring with mechanical ventilation at home, considering the family as the central axis and its context. Method:A research carried out in the Intensive Care Unit of the Paquito González Cueto University Pediatric Hospital and the Cecilio Ruiz de Zarate University Polyclinic of Cienfuegos during the years 2015 - 2016. An educational strategy was designed and implemented to care for a patient with atrophy Muscular spinal type I, who has survived six years in ventilatory support, two of these at home. Empirical methods were used to design the strategy: documentary analysis and participant observation; and theoretical methods: analytical - synthetic, inductive - deductive, historical-logical, systemic and modeling.Results:An educational strategy was designed and implemented, organized in four stages: assessment, planning, execution and evaluation which solved practical problems with time and resources optimization in relation to the child care with home mechanical ventilation; A qualitative change was evidenced with the incorporation of health professionals to the family dynamics. Conclusion:Integrating health care different levels allowed nursing intervention focused on the child's illness and the particular needs of the family of knowing how to provide care in relation to ventilatory support at home.
