【 摘 要 】

Over the last decade, the humanity has experienced a new scientific and technological revolution, nanotechnology. This emerging field represents an attractive promise since it will affect many aspects of life and society. Specially, nanobiotechnology, a field derived from nanotechnology inspired in nature, comes to change healthcare vision, leading to the development of a new discipline, nanomedicine. Nowadays, nanomedicine is considered one of the most cutting-edge field, driving most of the investments in research and development. This review presents an overview on nanomedicine most promising applications, such as tissue engineering, controlled drug release and early detection of diseases. Also, some modern trends and challenges are discussed.
