【 摘 要 】

Centred in the late medieval triptych in the church of Ringsaker is an image of the Eucharistic Man of Sorrows. The motif is placed in a niche with smaller barred doors for safekeeping of the consecrated wafer. This article examines possible interpretations and understandings that could occur in the meeting between the beholder and the altarpiece as the late medieval religious image fused with the real presence of the divine in form of host and relics.
