【 摘 要 】
In the wake of the expanding British Commonwealth in the eighteenth century, the Church of England met new challenges with regard to church work for English citizens and for local people seeking membership in the church. The gradual development of indigenous national churches in different parts of the world called for a broader forum where common issues could be dealt with. The answer was the Lambeth Conference, constituted in 1867, bringing together bishops from all regions of the Commonwealth. The following presentation gives a sketch of the history of the Lambeth Conference through the 150 years of its existence, and shows its important contribution to the identity and profile of the Anglican Communion of today.
