【 摘 要 】
In 1536, Norway became reduced to a Danish province, in theory. In practice, however, the incorporation was never completed. This uneasy position was mirrored in contemporary official or quasi-official Danish historiography, in which Norway was treated as a neighbouring country. Nevertheless, in the first half of the 17th century Norwegian history became the object of growing interest in governmental circles, an interest that was stimulated by the discovery of the Old Norse literary heritage. With the introduction of an absolute monarchy in 1660, Norway’s status within the realm was enhanced, and the way was paved for the first official history of Norway.
