【 摘 要 】

In this article we study political advisors in Norwegian ministries. Although political advisors have existed in Norway since the post-war period, there is little systematic knowledge about their actual work. This article draws on register data, survey and interviews to investigate the importance of political advisors. The conclusion is that the political advisors are far from just ‘political broilers’, young party actors with only minor tasks. Rather, political advisors in Norway have high education and broad experience, and they are important actors in the ministry, some even with extensive delegated decision-making authority. The lesson from this article is thus that political advisors should have a natural place in political science research when decision-making processes in Norway are to be described and explained.
