【 摘 要 】
The objective of this research work was to formulate and evaluate fast dissolving tablet of Sildenafil citrate, a drug, that issued for the treatment of erectile dysfunction was prepared using different polymers and also optimize the best formulation. The study involved different excipients were tested for their compatibility with Sildenafil citrate by the FTIR studies. Based on the results of FT-IR studies, majority of the excipients were found to be compatible with Sildenafil citrate which were then used in the preparation of Sildenafil citrate fast dissolving tablets. Sildenafil citrate is a selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase type-5 enzyme (PDE5) extensively used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). Fast dissolving tablets of Sildenafil citrate were prepared by direct compression method by super disintegrates addition. Nine batches (F1-F9) of mouth dissolving tablets of Sildenafil citrate were prepared by using crospovidone, KyroneT-134 in different concentrations. Along with other excipients which were kept constant for development of optimized formulation. All the formulations were evaluated for weight variation, hardness, friability, drug content, in-vitro disintegration time, in-vitro dissolution etc., and batch F7 show the values within the limits. Sildenafil citrate fast dissolving tablets of F-7 were found to be 93.948% drug release within 10 min with in-vitro dispersion time being 14 sec. The time taken for complete drug release is significantly less when compared to the marketed product (Viagra) which has drug release within 45min.
