【 摘 要 】

Introduction: an early warning surveillance system for epidemic outbreaks could enhancethe efficiency of vector control campaigns and either delay or stop the epidemicspread of dengue, reducing the impact of the disease. Objective:describe the effect of weather variables on dengue and its vector, the Aedesaegypti mosquito. Methods: the present retrospective study was conducted in the municipality of Camagüeyfrom January to December 2015. Mean values for the weather variables cloud cover, wind speed, dew point, humidity, temperature and precipitation for this areawere obtained from a free web page. Data on feverish cases suspected of dengueinfection and immature Aedes aegypti detected in the municipality ofCamagüey were obtained from records kept at the Provincial EpidemiologyDivision. The free software R was used to determine the correlation betweenweather variables and detection of suspected cases and larval Ae. aegypti. The effect of weather variables on cases and larval Aedes aegypti wasassessed by simple linear regression. Results: except for wind speed, weather variables had a positive correlation withsuspected cases and larval Ae. aegypti. A linear regression model wasused to determine the relationship of weather variables to cases and larvalAe. aegypti. Seasonality of weather variables was observed in the five-yearperiod 2011-2015.Conclusions: a relationship was found between weather variables and dengue and its vector, the Ae. aegypti mosquito.
