【 摘 要 】

Background and Aims : The tribe Vernonieae is distributed in the tropics and subtropics of both hemispheres and includes 21 subtribes, 118 genera and about 1050 species. The aims of this work are to provide an updated list of Mexican species of the tribe and contribute data concerning their distribution by state, altitude, vegetation types, growth habit and phenology. Methods:A bibliographic review of several taxonomic works and scientific collections of Mexico and some foreign ones was carried out. Key results:Seventy-tree species and two infraspecific taxa belonging to 19 genera are recognized, grouped in eight subtribes. Of these 19 genera, three are endemic and three are introduced, 47 species and two infraspecific taxa are endemic and three species are introduced. Chiapas, Oaxaca and Veracruz concentrate the largest number of genera and species, in addition to Guerrero. In thePinus-Quercusforest can be encountered the largest diversity of Vernonieae species, which are distributed from sea level to 3000 m altitude. Conclusions:More than 60% species of Vernonieae presents in country are endemic and only 4.2% correspond to introduced taxa.
