【 摘 要 】

A phylogenetic study was carried out for the sectionPunctatiof the genusLonchocarpusand related genera, based on molecular and morphological data. The sectionPunctatiis monophyletic and consists of three geographically correlated clades (Mexico, Mexico-South America and the West Indies), they are also characterized by different seedling types. Nine new species ofLonchocarpus adamsii ,L. antioquiensis ,L. brachyanthus ,L. crassicalyx ,L. grandifoliolatus ,L. gyroides ,L. major ,L. sumiderensisandL. tenorioiare described and illustrated, based mainly on morphological evidence including that of the seedlings.
