【 摘 要 】

In order to study the effects of physical treatments and essential oils on green mould rot control in orange cv."Valencia", this research was conducted in a completely randomized design with 17 treatments each with 3 replicates. Fruits harvested at March and after disinfection were bathed in fungal spore solution, while green mould was treated with heat treatment and thymol essential oils in various concentrations. Then, the fruits were stored at 6°C and 85 to 90% humidity for 3 months. Results showed that the highest amount of decaying was observed in control treatment with 100% rotting, while the least amount of rotting was with hot water treatment at 6°C. Mean comparisons indicated that the highest pH was observed for 2 and 3 min storage in hot water with no significant difference with storage for 1 min (P<0.05). The least amount of vitamin C was in control treatment which might be due to complete decay of fruits. Also, the highest amount of weight loss was in the control treatment because of complete rot of the fruits. The obtained results indicated that none of the essential oil treatments had fungicide property but can stop the fungal activity property not to be shown.
