【 摘 要 】
In vitroantioxidant and antifungal activities ofAsphodelus aestivusBrot. leaves were evaluated. Total flavonoid, chlorophyll and carotenoid contents,b-carotene bleaching effect, metal chelating ability, total antioxidant activity, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS), N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine dihydrochloride (DMPD), superoxide, hydroxyl and nitric oxide (NO) scavenging assays and antifungal activities of water and ethanol extracts were determined. The plant has a powerful antioxidant activity at various antioxidant systemsin vitro. The metal chelating and radical scavenging activities of the water extract were higher than the ethanolic extract whereas the ethanolic extract exhibited higherb-carotene bleaching effect, total antioxidant activity and antifungal ability compared to water extract. Active extracts ofA. aestivusBrot. might be an alternative to more toxic synthetic antioxidants as additives in food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic preparations.
