【 摘 要 】
The effectiveuse of Brazilian research capabilities to meet the Society needs depends onfour key sectors: Universities and research centers, the Brazilian MetrologicalInstitute (Inmetro), providers and users of analytical services, governmentalagencies and financial bodies. The number and qualification of the Brazilianinstitutions dealing with welfare (public health and safety, environment, nutritionand education) is insufficient. Indeed chemistry is the focal point for theirproper development, increasing benefits and reducing associated risks relatedto national policies. Besides the usual demands for better education, increasedfinancial resources and the like, a few urgent issues should be dealt with. These are the rapid development of Chemical Metrology, high-tech chemical analyticalservices, efficiency in obtaining / importing essencial materials and chemicals, chemical technology applied intensively to public health issues. The implementationof these activities will have the bonus of social inclusion of the people beingpositively affected by these actions.
