【 摘 要 】

Products resulting from the ethoxylation ofhydroxylated compounds, especially water and ethanol, are of great commercialimportance. This work presents several aspects concerning the catalytic reactionsof ethylene oxide, a chemical substance used in the production of a wide varietyof products. Mechanisms of ethoxylation, distribution of products, formationof undesired by-products and perspectives for new processes using heterogeneouscatalysis are also reviewed and discussed.
