【 摘 要 】

The importance of chitosan has grown significantlyover the last two decades due to its renewable and biodegradable source, andalso because of the recent increase in the knowledge of its functionality inthe technological and biomedical applications. The present article reviews thebiopolymer chitosan and its derivatives as versatile biomaterials for potentialdrug delivery systems, as well as tissue engineering applications, analgesiaand treatment of arthritis.
