【 摘 要 】

Dyes and pigmentsare additives used in polymers to improve mainly the aesthetic properties ofthe material. However, the incorporation of these additives can directly affectpolymer stability. The colorants can drastically decrease the lifetime and theperformance of the material or can act as a stabilizer, improving significantlythe stability of the polymer against degradation. Interaction between colorantsand polymers is the cause of the stability changes. Some mechanisms are proposedto explain the action of colorants on polymers. However it is difficult to foreseethis action without experiments. This work reviews the main mechanisms involvedin the degradation and stabilization of polymers containing colorants.
