An Efficient Paging Strategy Based on Paging Agents of Base Stations in Cellular Mobile Networks

【 摘 要 】

We propose a new paging strategy to reducepaging cost by adding paging agents at base stations. When amobile-terminated call occurs, the base stations look up thepaging agents to determine if terminal paging is actually to bemade. An analytical model based on a Markov chain is used toevaluate the performance of the proposed strategy. Thenumerical results show that the proposed strategy significantlyreduces the paging cost compared with the simultaneouspaging strategy.
