【 摘 要 】

The manufacturing enterprise as a whole is a highly dynamic environment, because of the continuous changes of the market. This happens as a result of the evolvingvariables that restrict it. Such aspect forces the enterprise to be more competitive. Despite ofsuch needs, there are situation where the approaches commonly used have reached an inflexionpoint. On the other hand, newer approaches, as ontologies and the Semantic web are appearingand are gaining progressive interest in this domain.Nevertheless, ontologies and the Semanticweb also present limitations to model the manufacturing enterprise. In this work, we present: areview of these limitations, explaining use cases where dynamic ontologies can be useful formanufacturing. Furthermore, we deliver an open problem and some questions related with thisdomain. The advantages of solving this open problem are outlined using the Semantic WebVirtual Enterprise Model, as a new method for managing dynamic ontologies in themanufacturing domain.
