【 摘 要 】

The main raw product of biomedical research is the information contained in laboratory notebooks and the associated computer files ofindividual researchers. Most of the problems in managing bioresearchinformation downstream stem from the way this information is initiallyrecorded and stored. Electronic notebooks based on traditional knowledgemanagement approaches have not been widely adopted by bio-researchers – thevast majority still use paper notebooks. We describe deployment of a softwaresystem based on the semantic tagging approach that successfully addresses thekey adoption problems. This case study also indicates fruitful directions for thefuture R&D.
