【 摘 要 】
Background Issues of World Energy Deman World energy demand continues to increase in an apparently inexorable manner. The OECD International Energy Agency’s World Energy Outlook 2006 [1] shows that demand increased from around 5500 Mtoe (million tons of oil equivalent) in 1970 to around 11 200 Mtoe in 2005, i.e. more than doubled (Figure 1.1). It also predicts that, on current world governments’ policies, it will continue to increase, reaching about 17 400 Mtoe by 2030, a further increase of 65% over 2005 levels and a factor of more than 3 above the 1970 levels. Looking further ahead, the OECD IEA’s Energy Technology Perspectives 2006 [2] predicts that world energy demand will have doubled again, above 2005 levels, by 2050.[First Paragraph]
