Illusory Straight Gaze can Induce a StareintheCrowd Effect

【 摘 要 】

In the present research, we conducted a visual search task foroddly directed gaze and examined whether the highlevelinformation, the perceived gaze direction, was accessed fasterthan lowlevel feature information, the pupil location in theeye socket. The results showed that search efficiency wasdetermined not by the lowlevel information but the highlevel information of the perceived gaze direction. Theadvantage of first accessing highlevel information isdiscussed based of this result.
